Accountants from China visit Henderson Loggie
Accountants from China – the world’s fastest growing economy – are in Scotland this week to learn how the profession here is adapting to the current economic downturn.
The delegation of 31 from the People’s Republic includes partners and senior managers working for indigenous Chinese accountancy practices and international firms based in Beijing, Shanghai and several other financial centres.
During a visit to one of Scotland’s leading independent accountancy firms Henderson Loggie in Edinburgh today (Monday), they were told by chairman George Hay that despite the current market conditions his firm’s growth was set to continue. Said George Hay, “I told our Chinese visitors that the firm is moving with the difficult economic environment to make sure our offering to clients is relevant to the current situation.”
Henderson Loggie partner Jandy Stevenson who also made a presentation on the impact of the current economic climate said “While the recession is adversely affecting some clients it does provide businesses with the opportunity to become more efficient.”
The Chinese visitors represent The Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and are guests of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
